Synopsis
Pulling back the curtain on the tortuous, ocean-bound filming of Jaws, three actors find themselves trapped on the water in a cramped cabin while their mechanical shark constantly breaks down.
Driven by claustrophobia and massive generational egos, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, and Roy Scheider pass the time drinking, gambling, and bickering. What unfolds is a blistering, alcohol-fueled rivalry that tests their boundaries—completely unaware they are in the middle of creating the first global blockbuster.
Characters
Note: the director is not looking for impersonations of these very real humans, but suggestions of mannerisms, tone, and cadence.
Richard Dreyfuss
Age: Mid 20s
Presenting: Male-presenting
Line Load: Heavy
The powder keg. Ambitious and neurotic, a deeply insecure and impulsive actor desperate to prove himself; as charming as he is arrogant and exasperating.
Roy Scheider
Age: Early 40s
Presenting: Male-presenting
Line Load: Heavy
The peacemaker. Grounded and diplomatic with a dry humor and the confidence to create calm in a storm of giant egos.
Robert Shaw
Age: Mid 40s
Presenting: Male-presenting
Line Load: Heavy
The provocateur. Charismatic, commanding, fiercely intelligent, a functioning alcoholic – rarely sober, but not incapacitated; classically trained actor with a razor-sharp wit and volatile temper that hides a warm vulnerability.
Note: The actor playing Robert Shaw must be able to do a convincing British dialect.
